The Signature 10 Special Finish is the Signature 10 belt-drive turntable offered in the special finishes that sit outside the standard range. The engineering is unchanged: high-mass platter, magnetic decoupling and a 10-inch unipivot arm, with no cartridge.
Signature 10 Special Finish: the design
This version changes only the look of the plinth, which comes in more than one special finish; everything that matters for playback is shared with the Signature 10. The design rests on two complementary ideas: plenty of rotating mass, for inertia and steady speed, and magnetic fields in place of mechanical contact wherever vibration might get through, namely the platter bearing and the feet.
The 10.4 kg aluminium platter starts as a single piece, is damped with TPE and has a vinyl surface for the record to sit on. The bearing is an inverted type with a ceramic ball and plate. Speed, 33 or 45 rpm, is chosen with a button and kept in check by a precision generator.
The 10-inch unipivot arm with its SME fitting will take a cartridge weighing between 4 and 10 g once the appropriate counterweight is picked from those supplied; height and mounting distance can be corrected steplessly, even with the record turning. The package includes a Connect it 5P cable, a 405 g record puck and the tools needed for setting up, all packed in a wooden crate.
