3040C: twin C3 mid/bass drivers and HPE tubes in a slim cabinet
The 3040C is the next step for anyone moving up from the 3020C and 3030C standmounts who wants a tower that does not take up much room. It carries two 120 mm mid/bass drivers with the C3 Continuous Curved Cone profile, a continuously curved diaphragm that adds the bass output of a straight cone to the midrange discipline of a flared shape and blends evenly into the tweeter. The latter, at 22 mm, is an airtight unit mechanically separated from the front panel, following the Concept series layout, so the work of the two woofers does not alter its behaviour.
The cabinet, with its curved profile and narrow proportions, is stiffened by P2P (Point to Point) braces, which reduce reverberation in the low range and keep the stereo stage in focus. Inside are HPE (Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser) tubes: they interrupt the standing waves typical of tall enclosures, giving a more even response and less distortion. The drive units are framed by satin metallic trim rings.
The stated figures are 43 Hz-30 kHz at -6 dB, 88 dB sensitivity, 6 ohms nominal and a 4 ohm minimum, for amplifiers of 25 to 120 W. Internal volume is 26.8 litres. With spikes and stabilisers each speaker measures 94.2 x 28.5 x 28.1 cm and weighs 14.6 kg. The package includes grilles, foam bungs, spikes with their covers and rear stabilisers.
