A new level for MM cartridges
Rega Nd7 is an MM cartridge with N55 neodymium magnet, Fine Line nude diamond stylus, aluminium cantilever, miniaturised generator and Rega three-point mounting.
Nd7 takes the moving-magnet platform of the Nd series to a higher level with a Fine Line nude diamond stylus and newly designed generator. The system uses an N55 neodymium magnet, miniaturised parallel coils wound in-house and symmetrical geometry developed to improve channel balance, linearity and separation. Each cartridge is hand assembled and housed in a light, highly rigid glass-filled PPS body.

Fine Line profile
The stylus uses a synthetic monocrystalline diamond with Fine Line profile and a very small contact radius. This geometry allows the stylus to follow the smallest groove variations more accurately and retrieve a higher level of detail. The diamond is mounted on an aluminium cantilever, keeping moving mass low while providing the rigidity needed to transfer groove movement accurately to the generator.
Nd generator
The generator uses an N55 magnet and miniaturised parallel coils wound with 38-micron wire and 1275 turns. Lower inductance and impedance than conventional MM arrangements help extend high-frequency response. The air gap is optimised to improve linearity and crosstalk, while symmetrical generator geometry is designed to achieve very accurate and stable channel balance.
PPS body
The assembly is housed in a glass-filled PPS body moulded to very tight tolerances. The material combines rigidity and low mass, reducing the load on the tonearm bearings and aiding freedom of movement. The body design adopts solutions developed for higher-level Rega MC cartridges and incorporates three-point mounting to maintain stable geometry on a compatible tonearm.
Pairing and adjustment
Nd7 can also be ordered already fitted at the factory on Planar 6 and Planar 8. Rega's three-point mounting simplifies correct positioning and reduces the need for additional geometric adjustment on suitable tonearms. Rega specifies a tracking force of 1.75 g and nominal output between 5 and 6 mV.
