Rega Planar 3 RS takes the Planar 3 platform to a higher level with an aluminium-skinned HPL plinth, RB330 tonearm, Nd5 cartridge and Neo PSU MK2 included.
The Planar 3 RS Edition is a Rega Special version of the Planar 3, combining a stiffer structure with a complete factory-calibrated package. The plinth uses HPL with a brushed aluminium metal skin and matching edge trim, while retaining Rega's philosophy of low mass and high rigidity. The RB330 tonearm is paired with the Nd5 MM cartridge, while the 24 V synchronous motor is adjusted together with the dedicated Neo PSU MK2. Drive is via a Reference EBLT belt and a custom CNC-machined pulley.

RS plinth and Double Brace
The RS structure uses high-rigidity HPL laminate covered with a brushed aluminium metal skin. The Double Brace system links the tonearm mounting area to the central bearing, creating local reinforcement at the most mechanically critical points without adding unnecessary mass to the chassis. This solution limits energy absorption and plinth resonance while maintaining stable geometry between the tonearm and rotational axis.
RB330 and Nd5 cartridge
The RB330 tonearm is hand assembled and uses precision bearings, a rigid housing and an arm tube designed to distribute mass in a controlled way. On the Planar 3 RS it is supplied with the Nd5 MM cartridge already fitted and aligned. The Nd5 uses a nude diamond elliptical stylus, aluminium cantilever and a miniaturised generator with neodymium magnets, providing a complete solution that does not require the initial choice or fitting of a separate cartridge.
Motor and Neo PSU MK2
The low-noise 24 V synchronous motor is individually matched to the Neo PSU MK2. The external power supply provides electronic speed change, fine adjustment and advanced motor-vibration control. The CNC-machined aluminium pulley and Reference EBLT drive belt complete the drive system, with the aim of improving rotational accuracy and stability compared with the standard Planar 3 configuration.
Platter and central bearing
The 12 mm Optiwhite float-glass platter has a polished edge and is coupled to the sub-platter through the Rega-designed brass central bearing. The combination of platter, central support and reinforced plinth concentrates mass where it benefits rotation while keeping the supporting structure light, following the mechanical approach used in higher-level Rega turntables.
