Sonos streaming for the system you already own
Sonos Port is a network streamer to connect to an existing amplifier or receiver, with a digital coaxial output, RCA line inputs, a 12 V trigger, dual Ethernet, Wi-Fi and AirPlay 2.
Port is for those who already have a stereo system or an AV receiver and want to add Sonos streaming and multi-room without changing amplifier and speakers. It connects to a free input on the unit and turns it into a room of the system: from then on, music, radio, podcasts and audiobooks are chosen from the app. It is a small unit, about 14 centimetres per side and 4 high, in a matte black finish.

Connecting to the amplifier
Port has a digital coaxial output, to be taken with a coaxial cable to the digital input of the amplifier or receiver; Sonos also includes an RCA cable in the box, intended for the analogue connection. The output can be set to stereo or dual mono, and bass, treble and volume are adjusted in the Sonos app.
Line input
The RCA inputs accept an analogue source, for example a turntable or a CD player. That source is not confined to the main system: through Port it can be sent to the other Sonos speakers, so records and CDs can be heard in other rooms too.
12 V trigger
The trigger output switches on the connected amplifier by itself when playback starts. A second remote is therefore not needed: the music is started from the app and the system comes on.
Network and control
Port works over Wi-Fi, on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, or by cable, through one of its two Ethernet ports. It receives AirPlay 2 from Apple devices, and the Sonos app is used to connect streaming services and customise the settings. Voice control is obtained by adding a Sonos speaker that offers it to the system.
Installation
Its small size means it can sit on a shelf next to the amplifier or be mounted in an AV rack. The power supply is external, and the matte black finish matches the other equipment in the system.
