Goldring Eroica HX

Goldring Eroica HX: high-output MC cartridge for MM inputs

The Eroica HX is the high-output version of the Eroica: a moving coil that delivers 2.5 mV and connects to an ordinary moving magnet phono input. It is the most direct way to move from an MM to an MC without changing phono stage.

Generator and body

To reach this voltage the coils use an ultra-fine winding, designed to keep the moving mass low. The stylus is a Gyger II nude diamond and the body is in Pocan. The stylus is not user-replaceable: Goldring offers a re-tipping service.

Fitting and matching

It has the standard half-inch mount and fits most tonearms. It connects to an ordinary MM phono input, with a 47 kΩ load. Tracking force should be kept between 1.5 and 2.0 grams (1.75 recommended). As with any cartridge, after fitting it you should set alignment, tracking force and anti-skating following the tonearm instructions.
